Brenntag is the global market leader in chemical and ingredient distribution. They are central in connecting customers and suppliers in the chemical industry. Based across two divisions, they have more than 17,500 employees worldwide and operate a network of more than 600 sites in 72 countries.
The solution
Lasercroft was invited to support refurbishing flooring in their Scottish tanker loading bay. We recommended Resdev Pumadur HF – a FeRFA type 8 heavy-duty polyurethane flooring system used in the chemical industry due to its durability and ease of maintenance. A chemical-resistant polyurethane render would bolster this. The loading bay is used to load corrosive chemicals for transportation. The existing protective coatings of the tanker loading bay had significantly worn away, offering little to no protection to the concrete base. Any spillages resulted in concrete corrosion, with chemicals gathering in the potholes, further accelerating the deterioration.
Implementation
We prepared the area using tungsten carbide-tipped scabbling equipment to remove the remnants of existing coatings and any weak, friable concrete.
Once the area had been thoroughly vacuumed to remove dust and debris, any deep surface defects were repaired using Laserbulk polyurethane bulking mortar. The area was then ready to apply a heavy-duty, chemical-resistant topping. Pumadur HF was chosen for its combination of wear, impact and chemical resistance.
