The solution
The £4.8 million project, managed by Simpson (York), looked to massively improve the whole facility with new warehousing, welfare areas, offices and exterior works. Our work was concentrated in the new production and packing areas where durability and hygiene were paramount.
Implementation
Prior to commencing work on site, the new concrete slabs were moisture tested for suitability for application of the Altro Crete flooring. Due to the high levels of moisture still present, and to enable the project to run on schedule, Altro Proof epoxy DPM was recommended to suppress construction moisture.
The application began with shot blasting of the concrete and cutting anchorage grooves, standard preparation procedures when applying polyurethane systems. The DPM was then applied, swiftly followed by the 8mm thick heavy-duty Altro Crete flooring.
Stainless steel birds beak trim was fixed to perimeters with Altro Crete polyurethane coving applied to create a hygienic junction between floor and wall.
