A polyurethane screed in its simplest term is a heavy-duty and hardwearing resin flooring. It consists of an aggregate-filled core, filled with flint, and is usually applied at a minimum of 6mm thickness up to 15mm in special circumstances.
Our polyurethane products offer the highest level of durability available in the resin flooring market. The FeRFA grades them a type 8 meaning they are robust and hardwearing and particularly suitable for a wide range of environments including food manufacturing, engineering, and chemical-based industries.
Compared to an epoxy screed, polyurethane offers greater heat resistance, withstands high-impact, heavy wheeled traffic, and steam cleaning and recent development have improved the already faster curing times. A polyurethane floor can be serviceable in as little as 4 hours without the risk of tainting foodstuffs.
Due to its nature, polyurethane offers the best solution for chemical resistance and anti-corrosion and its life span can be up to 25 years. Our 12mm Ucrete UD200 product is fully resistant to high-temperature spillage up to 130 degrees Celsius, and 150 degrees for occasional spillage. Many food manufacturing organisations opt for a polyurethane screed due to its durability, safety, and hygiene requirements.
Lasercroft supported a large distillery to provide a damp proof flooring solution. We combined an epoxy flooring membrane to prevent moisture as well as bonding to the walls before applying an 8mm Altro Crete slip-resistant polyurethane resin floor topping. This provided a heavy-duty and importantly industry-standard solution that is resistant to chemicals and thermal shock.
